Pros and Cons of Visiting Mallorca in June

Pros

June is a fantastic time to experience Mallorca at its best. First off, the weather is just kinda epic. There is no other way to describe it. You’re looking at long, sunny days with temperatures that are warm but not scorching—ideal for beach lounging or exploring the island’s towns on foot which might mean you don’t need a car to see the best things.

The seawater has warmed up, making it perfect for all kinds of water activities, from snorkeling to paddleboarding.

Plus, the island is in full swing but not yet at its peak tourist season, so you get a lively atmosphere without the overwhelming crowds. Restaurants, bars, and attractions are all open, and there’s a buzz in the air as the island gears up for its high season!

Cons:

While June is mostly fabulous in Mallorca, there are a few downsides to consider. For starters, prices for flights and accommodations start to climb as you edge closer to the high season. If you’re a couple on a budget, this could be a concern, and you may want a cheaper month like October in Mallorca. This is also the month when water starts to become a little funky tasting and you may not want to drink the tap water.

Also, while it’s not as crowded as visiting in July or exploring the island in August, popular spots like Palma or Santa Ponsa do start to get busier. These are some of the best areas to stay in Mallorca without a car so you may be trapped with lots of tourists, especially on weekends.

Lastly, the heat starts to pick up towards the end of the month. If you’re not a fan of warmer climates, the rising temperatures might be a bit much for you and you may want to consider visiting in April or checking out May instead.

Hotels get booked really quickly, especially around festivals and the summer! So you want to book in advance! As Palma is a great base, here are our top picks for accommodation near Palma:

For a mid-budget accommodation (our go-to) we suggest this Airbnb as it’s centrally located in the center of Palma, walkable to basically all the sites, and is a traditional, Mallorcan-style apartment with a beautiful balcony! We loved it here but it’s not the cheapest or most luxurious option!

What to Wear In Mallorca in June

A light, breathable shirt paired with shorts or a skirt is perfect for daytime exploring. And yes, you’ll definitely want to pack that swimsuit for beach days and boat trips. For evenings, a casual dress or a nice shirt with jeans works well, as some restaurants may have a dress code.

Packings Tips for Visting Mallorca in June

Here are some tips we recommend for packing for Mallorca in June:

  • Sun Protection: Mallorca June weather is sunny and hot, so pack a high-SPF sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and some UV-protective sunglasses. Both Caleb and I are obsessed with this Japanese sunscreen as it doesn’t have the greasy feel of American brands. We’ve worn it for literally years.
  • Footwear Matters: Sandals or flip-flops are great for the beach, but if you’re planning to explore, say, the Tramuntana Mountains which is one of the best places to see by car in Mallorca, you’ll want some sturdy walking shoes. It’s also illegal to drive in flip-flops so you will need these if you plan to rent a car and drive in Mallorca!
  •  Evening Attire: While the days are hot, the evenings are comfortably warm. A light shawl or cardigan is perfect for those sunset dinners.
  • Stay Connected: A Spanish SIM card can be a lifesaver for navigating and staying in touch. We highly recommend using World Sim as we’ve had great experiences when we personally used them!
  • Google Fi is Your Friend: If you haven’t tried Google Fi yet, do it. It’s invaluable for getting around the island.
  • Charge On-the-Go: A portable phone charger is a must, especially if you’re snapping pics and using maps all day.
  • Hydration is Key: A reusable water bottle is essential in the June heat.
  • Beach Bag: A lightweight beach bag can double as a day bag and is perfect for carrying your beach essentials.
  • Travel Adapter: Make sure to pack a travel adapter for your gadgets. You don’t want to be caught without power.
