But, after personally visiting, we can say that Mallorca is an amazing destination for couples! But, is March a prime time to visit Mallorca? In our opinion, absolutely! March offers a daily average temperature of around 60°F (15°C), which we find to be a great balance for outdoor adventures and some early-season sunbathing.

It’s a fantastic time for outdoor activities without the summer crowds that visiting Mallorca in June or later months bring.. Think hiking or cycling the Tramuntana Mountains or simply strolling through artisanal fairs. Oooh romantic! Consider getting a car to make the most of all of it!
The island’s event calendar starts to heat up too. Foodies like Caleb and I will love Port Adriano’s Street Food Festival, while vintage car enthusiasts shouldn’t miss the Classic Rally Mallorca. Plus, March 1st marks the Day of the Balearic Islands—a celebration of local culture and pride.
As March is a lesser-visited season, you’ll also enjoy sweet deals on accommodations, car rentals, and the odd boat trips that are running!

While March has its perks, it’s not without a few drawbacks. Mallorca March weather can be a bit unpredictable, with occasional rain showers and winds that might be a bit of a bummer for your beach plans. The sea is still on the cooler side, averaging around 59°F (15°C), so it’s not the best time for swimming.
Some tourist attractions, restaurants, and boat tours might still be closed or have limited hours, as the high season hasn’t kicked in yet, which starts closer to May in Mallorca. And while the island is less crowded, which is great for avoiding tourist traps, it also means fewer events and festivals compared to the bustling summer months like July or August.

Once you’ve gotten into Palma from Palma Airport, take a stroll through the winding streets of the Old Town, visit the iconic La Seu Cathedral, or explore the Royal Palace of La Almudaina.

- Fira del Fang Pottery Fair: Held in Marratxi, this fair is great if you’re a couple who loves pottery or handmade goods! It’s not just about ceramics; the event also features regional folk dancing and music concerts. It’s a great place to grab some things to bring back from Spain!

- Puerto Portals Classic Car Rally: Car enthusiasts, this one’s for you. The rally showcases a wide range of vintage cars and takes you on a 550km route in Portals.

- St. Patrick’s Day in Santa Ponsa: You don’t have to be Irish to join in the fun. The celebrations are vibrant and offer a different cultural experience on the island. Expect Irish dancers, singing, and lots of Guinness – duh!
Pro tip: leave the car at home for this one so you can enjoy the festival while staying safe and legal! Or, stay somewhere you don’t need a car and take the bus!
- Day of the Balearic Islands: Celebrated on the 1st of March, this day is a proud moment for all Mallorcans and offers various activities and events around the island. It’s their version of July 4th!

- Ditch the flip-flops for something more substantial. If you’re hitting places like the Tramuntana Mountains, you’ll need solid footwear, and we always recommend trail running shoes. We learned this the hard way—our feet still have the battle scars to prove it!
- Closed-toe shoes are a must, not just for hiking but also for the evening when it’s pretty chilly. You likely won’t be needing flip-flops in March!
- Pre-arrange your mobile situation. We had a smooth experience with a pre-purchased Spanish SIM card, and it saved us a lot of time.
- If you haven’t jumped on the Google Fi bandwagon yet, now’s the time. It’s a lifesaver for navigating the island, and we can’t sing its praises enough.
