stockholm: Mini Guide
Caleb and I LOVE Stockholm! The adorable colorful houses! The super-friendly people! THE BAKED GOODS OMG. They are INCREDIBLE!
Yes, Stockholm is expensive, but we 100% think it’s worth a visit, especially when you don’t need a ton of time to see all the sights!
WHERE TO STAY
When it comes to where to stay in Stockholm, the MOST central area is Gamala Stan, which is Stockholm’s old town. However, you will pay a pretty penny to stay there! There are many other neighborhoods that allow you to save a buck and are only 20-25 minutes walk outside of Gamala Stan, so that is where we opted to stay. Some of those neighborhoods are Norrmalm (our preference), Kungsholmen and Sodermalm!

In terms of getting around, you will want to walk around Stockholm! Once you get to Gamala Stan, everything is really close which makes it super convenient! No rental cars needed!
Below, you’ll find our favorite stay in Normalm (plus a fun one in Gamala Stan) as well as a few that are on our “wish list” for the future. We’ve picked options that balance comfort with affordability, so you can save your euros for all the food & baked goods in Stockholm!
WHERE TO STAY:
BEST WESTERN KOM HOTEL
OR GENERATOR STOCKHOLM
OR If you want a SUPER unique & affordable hotel right IN Gamala Stan you could stay at Mälardrottningen Yacht Hotel. We have NOT stayed here but were SO CLOSE. It looks like it could be memorable if you get past the bunk beds. 😅
