Tips for Using Going To Save Money on Flights
When we first joined Going, we didn’t really know how to use it.
We just put our current home airport in and thought we were using our membership to it’s full potential.
Yeah. We were wrong.
Culture Craving Couple contains affiliate links and is a member of the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you make a purchase using one of these Amazon links, we may receive compensation at no extra cost to you. Thanks for supporting us! You can see our disclosure policy.
That’s not BAD to do, but it’s not going to score you the best deals which is the whole purpose of the membership ya?
We want you to get the best deals (so you can have the most epic experiences!) and wanted to share our top 3 tips for making the most of your Going membership!
Utilize Free Cancellation
The most important one to note: regardless of if you book any kind of trip cancelation insurance, you can cancel ANY flight within 24 hours of booking for a refund.
Did you know this? It’s not Going-specific either!
When you book ANY flight ever, you can cancel within 24 hours, as long as you booked directly with the airline and some booking websites.
IMPORTANT: this only if you live in the USA as the law applies to flights to and from the USA. You can read more about it here.
So, if you see an awesome deal (like a mistake fare) but you’re not sure if you can go RIGHT THEN, just book it so you don’t miss it.
Don’t just set your home airport as your preferred airport.
If you live in an area where you could fly to a large airport for pretty cheap, track that airport too!
For example, when we were based in Seattle, we also tracked Los Angeles because flights to LA from Seattle are under $100.
Because LAX gets a lot of really cheap deals, sometimes it’s worth it to book a flight from there and then get a cheap flight over from your home airport.
Or, set airports around places you might visit to see family and friends, for instance. We follow airports in Nebraska because Caleb’s fam lives there and maybe we tack on a fun vacay after visiting….
…Which we probably need 😏.
Who knows what you might come across!
3. Be Flexible With Travel Dates
Going will typically send you deals that are anywhere from 3-9 months out and the best deals will be during specific weeks.
If you can be a little bit flexible, you’ll save the most bucker-oos. This is why we say it’s our favorite website if you have some schedule and location flexibility!
