Bucharest: Mini Guide
Caleb and I LOVED Bucharest. we honestly had no idea what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised! The people are nice, it’s super cheap, less touristy and beautiful!
The food is heavy but it’s delicious, especially if you go in the winter like we did when you want that comfort food!
WHERE TO STAY
When it comes to where to stay in Bucharest, you will want to stay near the old town in the city center. A good rule of thumb to know if you are in a great location is if you are within a 10-minute walk from Universitatii Square. You can route your hotel to the square on Google Maps to make sure, but we have ensured this with our hotel recommendations below!

In terms of getting around, you will want to walk around Bucharest for the most part! Of course, if you take a day trip to Brasov to see Dracula’s castle (which we recommend), you will need to take another form of transportation, but more on that later.
Below, you’ll find our favorite stays in Bucharest Center, as well as a few runner-ups that we researched and feel confident recommending. We’ve picked options that balance comfort with affordability, so you can save your euros for all the delicious food and experiences in Bucharest!
Bucharest is so affordable and we kept our picks nice & low priced since that’s how we travel – we’re never in the room anyway!
